Happiness. What is it?

Happiness. Now were talking, isnt that what we all want. No! I hear you say, I want money, thats what I want. Sure you do of course, but then what do you want the money for?

Well I want to buy some new clothes for the week end. Oh I see and when you have those new clothes what will that do for you?

Well then I'll feel happy !!!

Funny thing happiness because you see it does not exist! What do I mean. Well happiness, like success, love, and confidence (not to mention anxiety, stress, and depression) are words that Linguists call a "nominalization" - which means a process or an activity that has been described as if it were a real empirical objective thing.

When we talk about hapiness as a thing it carries with it some interesting baggage, because, and I want you to think about this, IF hapiness were a thing

it could be lost or found outside of yourself
you could give it to or get from someone else
you could certainly buy it
you could share it with others

Of course this fits in with the way many of us think about hapiness, but and this is a big BUT if your goal is to from now on experience more happiness in your life, then it helps to see happiness as a process , which means creating and experiencing good feelings in your body and mind, moment by moment.

When you realize this, that happiness is a process i.e. something you do as opposed something that is done to you, you will realize

You can do it or not do it
You can get better at it
You can ultimately master it and feel happy when ever you want.

Sound to good to be true? Then why dont you drop me a call or an email so you can set up your FREE 90 min coaching session today and together we start to make every day a great day for you.

Till the next time just be happy for the hell of it!!!

To your highest and best

Jon

Feeling a Little out of Sorts??

Good Morning !! And welcome to another magnificent Monday!! :-) I wonder how many of you out there think at this stage, if your reading this and Know me, that I may have finally lost my marbles at this stage??

Its a sad fact that most of us working in this day and age very rarely feel this way about life and work and Monday mornings, it tends to be more of the opposite i.e. "I cant believe it's Monday already, what happened to the week end (by the way this thought tends to come from the fact that were to P&$$1d to remember anything of the week end).

Many of feel that situations and circumstances dictate how we feel and that we have very little choice about how to feel with regards to life, and I agree that situations, events and circumstances can INVITE us to feel a certain way but ultimately we do have the Response-ability, the ability to respond in how we behave and feel with regards to situations etc. After all your not a robot are you?? To leave you with something to think about today here is a well known story:

There is an old cherokee story about a tribal elder who is teaching his grandson about life.

" A fight is going on inside me', he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between to wolves".

"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed arrogance and self pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies false pride, superiority and ego."

"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith".

"Thi same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too".

The grndson thought about this for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old cherokee simply smiled and replied, "The one you feed".

If you would like some help on getting food for the wolf that is good please feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to give you a free Coaching session for one and half hours.

Till next time - To your highest and best Jon
